Which level is my child

The levels run by age and experience, from a softer, slower ball at Red Ball up to the full yellow ball. Each level builds on the one before it.

  • Red Ball, ages 4 to 6. A first introduction to tennis with a softer, slower ball. Movement, games and the basics, built for small athletes.
  • Orange Ball, ages 7 to 10. Stroke development, a first serve, and a first taste of match play.
  • Green Ball, ages 10 to 12. Consistent play from the baseline, court positioning, and competitive match experience.
  • Dev Yellow, competitive players. Short for Development Yellow. The move to the full yellow ball, with more pace and spin, and preparation for tournaments.
  • Yellow Ball, ages 10 and up. High performance training for serious competitive juniors, led by Nan.
  • Junior Pickleball, ages 7 to 14. Open to junior players of all skill levels. One class a week.

The ages overlap at 10. If your child sits on the line between two levels, or has played before, email bill@demartinitennis.com or call 678-772-9254 with your child's age and how long they have played, and we will point you to the right class. Children at any level can also take private lessons.

Fall Session 2, October 5 to December 5

Every level follows the same calendar. Each weekday class meets eight times, starting the week of October 5. Thanksgiving week, November 23 to 28, is off. Last classes are Monday, November 30; Tuesday, December 1; Wednesday, December 2; Thursday, December 3; Friday, December 4; and Saturday, December 5. The week of December 7 to 11 is held for weather makeups only. If no class is lost to weather, no class is added.

Prices below are per eight-class session, one day a week. Residents of Crooked Creek pay the first figure. Everyone else pays 10 percent more. How registration, weather and makeups work

Classes meet on the Crooked Creek courts at 14250 Creek Club Dr, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Directions and parking are on the Visit page. Every rate on the site is gathered on the Rates page, and the FAQ answers the shorter questions.

Registering and paying

Each registration is for the same day and time every week. If your child plays more than one day a week, those days stay the same for the whole session. Your spot is confirmed once you have registered and paid in CourtReserve. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted, and DeMartini Tennis processes every payment. Children who are not registered cannot take part, so please register before the first class.

Joining after the session starts

After the first week, your child can still join if there is room. The price is prorated to the classes that remain. Email rebecca@demartinitennis.com first to confirm there is space, then register.

Weather

A class may be canceled for rain, or when the courts are still unsafe from earlier rain. On cold days the call is made at class time, based on safety and whether the courts are playable. Every weather notice goes out through CourtReserve, so keep the phone number and email on your account current.

Weather cancellations are made up during the week of December 7 to 11. If no class is lost to weather, no class is added.

Yellow Ball is the exception. It is never canceled for weather. Lightning or rain moves the session indoors for video analysis, footwork, conditioning and mental training. Only a severe thunderstorm with no safe indoor option cancels a Yellow Ball class, and families are told right away through CourtReserve.

Makeups

If your child misses a class, you can ask for a makeup in another weekday class at the same level during the same session. Makeups need approval in advance and depend on space. Email rebecca@demartinitennis.com before the class you would like your child to attend. Classes missed for illness are made up in the current session and do not carry over to the next one. There is no credit for a missed class that cannot be made up within the session. The December makeup week is for weather only.

Withdrawals and refunds

Withdrawals are made in writing. Email rebecca@demartinitennis.com with your child's name, the class, and the reason. Refund requests go to bill@demartinitennis.com. What comes back depends on timing.

  • 14 or more days before the session starts: a full refund.
  • 7 to 13 days before: a 50 percent cash refund, or a 100 percent program credit.
  • Fewer than 7 days before: a program credit only. No cash refund.
  • Medical or emergency cancellations: a full refund at any time, with documentation.
  • Once the session is under way: a refund for the remaining classes, less a 5 percent administrative fee. The fee covers reserved court time and coach scheduling, and helps keep spots open for families on the waitlist.

Program credits are good for one calendar year from the date they are issued and can be used by anyone in your immediate family.

Photos and video

By taking part, your family agrees that photos and video taken during class may be used in DeMartini Tennis marketing and communications. To opt out, say so on the registration form.
